Materials List - Mitered Borders and Bindings

Materials

For mitered borders:
  • One 11" square of fabric
  • Four strips, each 4" x 20" of coordinating fabric for borders
For binding:
  • Small quilt or wall-hanging, quilted and ready for binding.
  • This should be at least 12" square, and not bigger than a baby quilt. Do not trim the edges of the batting and backing before coming to class. (Instead of a quilt, students may bring a"cheater's block", batting and backing. This can be quilted by hand or machine, or basted together)
  • Bring approximately ½ yd. of 44"-wide fabric for binding.
Class Supplies
  • Basic Sewing Supplies
  • Happy Endings (book available in class)
  • Sewing machine in good working condition
  • "Walking foot" for machine if you have one
  • Extension cord
  • Thread to match binding
  • Bobbin full of thread
  • Scissors (paper and fabric)
  • Sharp pencil
  • Rotary mat and cutter
  • 6" x 12" ruler (or larger)
  • Straight pins
  • Masking tape
  • Little bag for trash
Before Class:
  • Wash and iron all fabrics
