Materials
- Use any assortment of "reproduction" fabrics, Civil War fabrics, 30's fabrics, Smithsonian fabrics, or your own collection of special or memorable fabrics. Please wash and iron all fabrics before class.
- Cut 5" x 5" squares from 18 dark fabrics and 18 light fabrics for a total of 36 squares for the quilt. Please cut the squares, do not tear them.
- 1/4 yd. red or pink print fabric for the hearts and small border
- ½ yd. dark print for the wide border
- Later you will need:
- 1/4 yd. print for the binding
- 3/4 yd. print for the backing
- 30" x 36" batting
Class Supplies
- Rotary cutter, mat and ruler
- Sewing machine and extension cord
- Thread to coordinate with fabrics
- Full bobbin of thread for your machine
- Thread to match red or pink fabric
- Hand sewing needles
- Thimble
- Small scissors
- Sharp pencil
- Small piece of freezer paper (6" square)
- 4" square Omnigrid ruler
- Little bag for trash
Before Class:
- Wash and iron all fabrics.
